Congregation Volunteering to Feed the Poor

July 24, 2012

Jersey City, NJ--On Saturday July 21, Ephesus Community Church members participated in a local food pantry event. During the three hours of serving food to the needy, more than hundred people were fed without cost.

Like the book of Isaiah 51:1 depicts, "Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price," church members shared the fellowship of serving which reminded them of the sacrifice of Jesus that gave life to many.

One participant shared, "It was such an experience where I came closer to various people living in the city.  Their need for food is real, through which I could relate to many other spiritual need like hopelessness and loneliness in people."

"Church needs to reach the needy," shared another participant.
